  13. CAMPBELL, California--April 26, 1994--In keeping with its on-going
  14. strategy to lower prices and grow market share, Apple USA, a division
  15. of Apple Computer, Inc., today announced it has lowered the price of
  16. the popular Macintosh  Quadra  605 personal computer.   In addition,
  17. two specially configured versions of the product now come with eight
  18. ready-to-run business productivity software programs, valued at more
  19. than $800 .
  20.      Effective April 25, the price of the Macintosh Quadra 605 8/160,
  21. without preinstalled software, has been reduced by 16 percent to
  22. $1,069 from the previous Apple Price of $1,269 .
  23.      Two configurations of the Macintosh Quadra 605 will be packaged with
  24. eight popular business software applications for the small office and
  25. home office Macintosh user.  Both configurations of the Quadra 605
  26. Business Productivity Solution will include ClarisWorks from Claris,
  27. Quicken from Intuit, Astound! from Gold Disk Inc., FileDuo from ASD
  28. Software, Inc., Full Contact from FIT Software, Common Ground from No
  29. Hands Software, Working Watermarker from Working Software Inc., and
  30. the American Heritage Dictionary from SoftKey International Inc.
  31. Complete applications with manuals are included.  Monitor and
  32. keyboard must be purchased separately.
  33.      "The Quadra 605 is the natural candidate for an integrated business
  34. solution," said George Everhart, vice president and general manager
  35. of the PC Business Division at Apple.  "It combines ease of use with
  36. price performance and has a proven track record of success in small
  37. to medium and home business markets.  The software selected for this
  38. bundle offers a wide range of productivity options that allow users
  39. to track their finances, produce documents with text and graphics,
  40. and manage their business."
  41.      Price and availability
  42. The Macintosh Quadra 605 Business Productivity Solution with 4 MBs of
  43. RAM and 160K of disk space has an Apple Price of $1,019.  When
  44. configured for 8 MBs of RAM and 250K of disk space, the product has
  45. an Apple Price of $1,329.  At these prices, the Macintosh Quadra 605
  46. Business Productivity Solution is one of the most competitively
  47. priced solutions on the market for business customers.  Both
  48. configurations are available from Apple authorized resellers.  For

  51.      General Specifications
  52. The Macintosh Quadra 605 is a multipurpose personal computer for the
  53. business and professional marketplace,  powered by a 25MHz Motorola
  54. 68LC040 microprocessor.  Featuring a space-saving industrial design,
  55. the Macintosh Quadra 605 appeals to the business user as an ideal
  56. multipurpose desktop computer.  The computer includes System Software
  57. 7.1, as well as QuickTime  1.6 and HyperCard  Player 2.1.  A CD-ROM
  58. driver is preinstalled so customers can enjoy true "plug and play."
